Instructions
- 1
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F / 190°C for 3 minutes.
- 2
Place the green beans in a bowl and toss them with 15 ml olive oil, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
- 3
Transfer the green beans to the air fryer basket in a fairly even layer. Cook at 375°F / 190°C for 8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
- 4
Meanwhile, heat a small skillet over medium heat and toast the sliced almonds for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring, until golden. Remove them so they do not burn.
- 5
At the same time, make the gremolata by mixing the green olives, parsley, lemon zest, lemon juice, garlic, the remaining 7 ml olive oil, and the red pepper flakes if using in a small bowl.
- 6
Open the air fryer, add the toasted almonds over the green beans, and cook 4 minutes more at 390°F / 200°C, until the beans are blistered and tender with browned edges.
- 7
Transfer the green beans to a serving platter, spoon the olive lemon almond gremolata over the top, toss gently, and serve right away.
Chef tips
Dry the green beans very well before cooking so they blister properly. If your air fryer is small, cook in 2 batches to avoid steaming.
Substitutions
You can swap the almonds for sunflower seeds to avoid tree nuts. Green olives can be replaced with kalamata olives for a deeper flavor.
