Instructions
- 1
Preheat the air fryer to 190°C / 375°F for 3 minutes.
- 2
In a large bowl, toss the turnip slices with 15 ml / 1 tbsp olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and the black pepper until evenly coated.
- 3
In another bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs, pecorino cheese, fresh thyme, garlic powder, and sweet paprika. Add the remaining 15 ml / 1 tbsp olive oil and mix with a fork to lightly moisten the coating.
- 4
Press each turnip slice into the panko-pecorino mixture on both sides so the crust adheres well.
- 5
Arrange the turnip coins in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook at 190°C / 375°F for 9 minutes.
- 6
Open the air fryer, carefully flip the slices, and continue cooking at 190°C / 375°F for 7 to 9 more minutes, until golden and tender in the center.
- 7
While they cook, make the dip by stirring together the Greek yogurt, lemon zest, 15 ml / 1 tbsp lemon juice, grated garlic, honey, and the remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt in a small bowl.
- 8
Serve the turnip coins hot with the lemon yogurt dip on the side.
Chef tips
If your air fryer is small, cook in batches so the slices do not overlap and lose crispness. Cut the turnips evenly for consistent cooking.
Substitutions
You can substitute pecorino with Parmesan. Fresh thyme can be replaced with finely chopped rosemary in a smaller amount. For a no-honey version, omit it or add a little extra lemon zest.
