Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 200 °C / 400 °F and lightly grease a baking tray or line it with parchment paper. Use part of the olive oil so the little boats do not stick.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, grated zucchini, shredded mozzarella cheese, ground oats, beaten egg, grated onion, garlic powder, sweet paprika, the remaining olive oil, and salt.

  3. 3

Mix well with a spoon or clean hands for 1 to 2 minutes until the mixture is even and easy to shape.

  4. 4

Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions. Shape each portion into a small boat, slightly elongated with a gentle hollow in the center, and place them on the tray.

  5. 5

Bake at 200 °C / 400 °F for 16 to 18 minutes, until the little boats are firm, golden on the outside, and the turkey is fully cooked inside.

  6. 6

Let them rest for 3 minutes before serving so the cheese can settle and the little boats hold their shape better.

Chef tips

For an even softer texture for younger children, grate the zucchini and onion on the fine side of the grater. You can also make smaller pieces to serve as bite-size portions.

Substitutions

You can replace the mozzarella with another mild shredded cheese. The zucchini can be swapped for very finely grated carrot, and the ground oats can be replaced with fine breadcrumbs if you do not need a gluten-free option.
