Instructions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 200 °C / 400 °F and lightly grease a baking tray or line it with parchment paper brushed with a little olive oil.
- 2
In a large bowl, mix the ground chicken, ground oats, shredded mozzarella cheese, finely grated carrot, egg, plain yogurt, chopped chives, garlic powder, sweet paprika, salt, and olive oil.
- 3
Stir very well with a spoon or clean hands until you get a uniform, slightly moist mixture. Let it rest for 5 minutes so the oats absorb some of the moisture.
- 4
With slightly damp hands, shape 16 even round balls and place them on the tray, leaving a little space between each one.
- 5
Bake for 16 to 18 minutes at 200 °C / 400 °F, or until the mini drums are cooked through, firm to the touch, and lightly golden on the outside.
- 6
While they bake, wash the ripe pear and cut it into small cubes to serve as a fresh side.
- 7
Remove from the oven and let rest for 3 minutes before serving. Serve the mini drums warm with the pear cubes on the side.
Chef tips
For an even softer texture, grate the carrot on the finest side of the grater. For very young children, you can cut each bite in half before serving.
Substitutions
You can swap the chives for very finely chopped parsley. The pear can be replaced with soft diced apple. Mozzarella can be replaced with another mild shredded cheese that melts well.
