Instructions

  1. 1

    1. Add the watermelon, frozen strawberries, Greek yogurt, lime juice, basil leaves, honey, and cold water to a blender.

  2. 2

    2. Blend for 45 to 60 seconds until smooth and creamy. For a colder, thicker texture, add the ice and blend 15 to 20 seconds more.

  3. 3

    3. Taste the smoothie and adjust with a little more honey or a few extra drops of lime juice if you want to balance sweetness and acidity.

  4. 4

    4. Serve immediately in 2 chilled glasses. For a more aromatic finish, garnish with a small basil leaf on top.

  5. 5

    5. No cooking is required; if you want to chill the glasses before serving, place them in the refrigerator for 5 minutes at 39 °F / 4 °C.

Chef tips

Use very cold watermelon so you do not need too much ice, which can dilute the flavor. Blend the basil just enough to perfume the drink without overpowering it.

Substitutions

You can swap the honey for agave syrup for a strict vegetarian version. Greek yogurt can be replaced with lactose-free plain yogurt or plant-based yogurt, though allergens and dietary tags would change accordingly.
