Instructions

  1. 1

    1. Wash the plums and red grapes. Pit the plums and cut them into chunks; leave the grapes whole or halve them if large.

  2. 2

    2. Place the oats in the blender with the milk and let them soak for 2 minutes to soften. No cooking is required; keep any warm ingredients away from temperatures above 40°F/4°C so the smoothie stays nicely chilled.

  3. 3

    3. Add the plums, red grapes, plain yogurt, honey, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and ice to the blender.

  4. 4

    4. Blend for 45 to 60 seconds until smooth and creamy. If you prefer a thinner texture, add a little more milk and blend again for 10 seconds.

  5. 5

    5. Taste and adjust the honey if you want a sweeter profile. Serve immediately in two chilled glasses.

Chef tips

For a silkier texture, freeze the plum pieces for 30 minutes before blending. If you want a deeper flavor, chill the grapes as well.

Substitutions

You can replace the honey with maple syrup in the same amount. Plain yogurt can be swapped for Greek yogurt for a thicker smoothie. Whole milk may be replaced with reduced-fat milk or oat drink, keeping in mind that allergens and dietary tags will change.
