Instructions

  1. 1

    1. Toast the black sesame seeds in a small skillet over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring often, until fragrant. If monitoring the pan surface, keep it around no more than 300°F / 150°C to prevent burning. Let cool for 2 minutes.

  2. 2

    2. Add the red plums, ricotta, milk, rolled oats, honey, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and ice to a blender.

  3. 3

    3. Add most of the toasted black sesame, reserving a small amount for finishing.

  4. 4

    4. Blend for 45 to 60 seconds, until very creamy and smooth. If you want a thinner texture, add 30 ml more milk, about 2 tbsp, and blend again briefly.

  5. 5

    5. Serve immediately in 2 glasses and sprinkle the reserved black sesame on top.

Chef tips

For an even silkier texture, peel the plums before blending. If you want a colder, thicker smoothie, freeze the plum pieces for 30 minutes beforehand.

Substitutions

You can substitute ricotta with creamy cottage cheese or Greek yogurt, though the texture will change slightly. Honey can be replaced with maple syrup. If you do not have black sesame, use toasted white sesame instead.
