Instructions

  1. 1

    1. Place the oats in the blender and pulse for 10 to 15 seconds until they reach a finer texture.

  2. 2

    2. Add the seedless cherimoya pulp, cold coffee, plain yogurt, frozen banana, cocoa powder, honey, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and ice.

  3. 3

    3. Blend for 45 to 60 seconds, stopping if needed to scrape down the sides, until the smoothie is very creamy and fully smooth.

  4. 4

    4. Taste and adjust with a little more honey if you want it sweeter; blend again for 5 seconds to combine.

  5. 5

    5. Serve immediately in two chilled glasses. For a thinner texture, add 1 to 2 extra tablespoons of cold coffee and blend briefly.

  6. 6

    6. If you prefer a less icy smoothie, let the frozen banana sit for 2 minutes at room temperature, around 68 °F / 20 °C, before blending.

Chef tips

For deeper flavor, use a medium- to dark-roast coffee. The cherimoya should be ripe to provide natural sweetness and a silky texture without needing much honey.

Substitutions

You can swap the plain yogurt for Greek yogurt for a thicker texture, or for plant-based yogurt if you want to avoid dairy. Honey can be replaced with maple syrup. If you do not have cherimoya, the recipe loses its original character, so replacing it is not recommended.
