Instructions

  1. 1

    1. Place the oats in a small skillet and toast over medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring often, until fragrant and just lightly colored. If you prefer using the oven, toast them at 160 °C / 325 °F for 4 minutes. Let cool for 2 minutes.

  2. 2

    2. Add the diced mango, passion fruit pulp, plain yogurt, toasted oats, milk, honey, ground cardamom, and ice to a blender jar.

  3. 3

    3. Blend for 45 to 60 seconds until very smooth and creamy. If you want a lighter texture, add a little more milk and blend again for 10 seconds.

  4. 4

    4. Taste the smoothie and adjust with a little more honey if you prefer it sweeter.

  5. 5

    5. Serve immediately in 2 chilled glasses and enjoy right away.

Chef tips

For an even silkier texture, use frozen mango and strain the passion fruit pulp if you prefer to remove most of the seeds. Chill the glasses for 10 minutes before serving.

Substitutions

You can substitute the milk with oat or coconut milk, but the recipe will only become dairy-free if you also replace the yogurt with a plant-based alternative. Honey can be replaced with maple syrup or agave. The oats can be swapped for gluten-free quinoa flakes.
